The Cook

July 26, 2015 I enjoyed watching the employees doing their work. The food was also good. I went for the sausage.

Sideshow Front

July 26 2015 Walking around the fairgrounds, I saw plenty of things worth photographing. I only regret not going in to see Hercules the Giant Horse. Maybe next year?

Spinning High

July 30 2015 I don’t know what these things are called, but lots of people photograph them and never get tired of liking them. I was testing out my new Holga to see how it worked. One of the lows of photography for me is that people seem to want to see the same thing […]

Redscale Sunset

April 18, 2015. This is cheating, of course, and about the only way I am going to get a sunset out of a black and white film. I used an eight-point star filter and redscale film to generate the effect. I hate this cell phone tower. Getting around it requires some acrobatics. Here, I just […]

Italian Cemetery

I was into cemeteries during the mid-nineties. San Francisco’s City of the Dead, Colma, California, was only a half an hour’s drive from me, so I made many journey’s to capture its monuments. One of the best for photography was the city’s Italian Cemetery. It was especially good for angels and stained glass!

In honor of Memorial Day, let me introduce you to one of my favorite early photos. I found this cherub in Colma’s Italian Cemetery. Darkness was falling, so I had to resort to a flash. (I had the bad habit of sleeping until 3 in the afternoon those days.) My flash failed me on the […]
