Water bubbles over the top of this fountain, which is a black rectangle at Fashion Island Mall in Newport Beach, California. I loved the reflections of the adjacent shops.

Bunnyhenge

This was originally intended as a circle where children could sit on the rabbits, but it attained cult status as a sculpture. There are fourteen rabbits sitting in the circle, discussing, it is said, world domination or just where they can find a good source of carrots and greens.

Great Blue Heron

We surprised this bird when we rounded a corner in the San Joaquin Marsh. I took this from about eight feet away. The bird did not mind our presence until we moved on.

Baby Tree Swallow

We came across a couple of volunteers banding tree swallow nestlings. This little fellow was one of the two runts of the litter. The volunteer weighed him, put a band on him, and returned him to the nest, much to the relief of the mother who circled the box screaming as the volunteers did their work.

Right in Front of Me

This is the aftermath of an auto crash that took place right in front of me as I was driving to a support group meeting. I came within 2 feet of being in the crash myself.

I think this illustrates the drama that square format can bring to a photo. The compression of the fireman and the nurse talking to the injured woman makes this photo better than it would have been if I had used a wider angle lens. Fortunately, I only had my camera phone with me.
